"Unter den Linden", the "inn in the meadows" at Rothenburg, Germany,
is our favourite place on a Sunday morning for this plan.

The breakfast buffet is gorgeous, but - psst - don't tell it anybody else, otherwise it'll be too overcrowded the next time you and I go there.

And: it's a great place to contemplate and to take some moody photographs, especially in autumn time.

The open-air pub of "Unter den Linden" is directly located at the bank of the river Tauber; which is quite a flat little creek 10 kilometers after it's origin.

Angelika, the tenant, and her team know how to decorate modestly but in a good style at once
and so you find seasonal bouquets everywhere in and outside the small inn.

So, when do we meet there in Rothenburg???

Sunday stroll around Rothenburg

When have you been to Rothenburg o.T. in Southern Germany last time?

One of Germany's most popular tourist destinations is only half an hour travel time away from our hometown. So every now and then my sweetheart and I take advantage of the proximity of time and place and pay a visit to Rothenburg.

Last Sunday we did this trip together with two good friends, had a great breakfast at our favourite "inn in the meadows" UNTER DEN LINDEN first and thereafter we had a very pleasant stroll along the Tauber Valley path beneath Rothenburg.

So please accompany us on our stroll through the phantastic springtime nature of this splendid location.

It's blowball time...

...and time of the chestnut bloom.

And - surprisingly - we had an encounter with "wild beasts"...

...the herd of "Taubertal Alpakas" - Tauber Valley alpacas....

...bred far away from their habitat Andes Mountains to delight their owners and visitors and - of course - to use their precious wool.

Short prior Pentecost you can find many peonies in our local gardens and parks.

We name this beautiful flower "Pfingstrose" - literally translated to "Pentecost Rose".

I hope you enjoyed our common stroll along the river Tauber - and the precious items we found along the track.

Roses in the Castle Garden of Rothenburg

After a great and relaxing morning at our favourite Sunday breakfast spot 'Unter den Linden' at Rothenburg ob der Tauber we went for a stroll inside the town wall of the medieval town.

Off the beaten tourist tracks there are many beautiful und unique places to linger over.

 

One of this places is the Burggarten (Castle Garden) in the east of the old town, high above the Tauber valley.

From there you have a fantastic panorama view on the southern town wall and the historic buildings behind.

One of my favourite spots in the Castle Garden is a small geometrical garden from the 17th/18th century with eight figures made from sandstone.

They are representing the four seasons and the four elements.

Currently many beautiful and sweet-smelling roses are blooming.

Rothenburg evening stroll

Rothenburg o.T., longed-for destination of many tourists visiting Germany.

Last Thursday my sweetheart and I made an evening stroll through "Germany's Disneyland" Rothenburg, which is not more than 30 minutes away from our hometown.

We started our evening walk at the entrance of the castle garden / Burggarten, at Roeder's gate / Rödertor.

Our next shooting spot was at the town wall of the castle's garden where you have a phantastic panorama view to Rothenburgs southern part of the old town with the Kobolzeller's Gate / Kobolzellertor in the middle.

Mintues later we approached at the market place right in the center of the medieval town center.
On the east side you find this ensemble of old merchants' houses.

On the west side the St. Georg's fountain is close to the old town hall...

...which was illuminated this evening because of the Imperial City Days the following weekend.

Sieber's Tower and Plönlein at the end of the street "Untere Schmiedgasse".

Mark's tower / the Markusturm is one of my favourite destinations in Rothenburg. I like the very nice bookstore in its vicinity, where I stood to take the photo.

握り寿司 Nigirizushi

Three years after my first trip to Tokyo I had the pleasure and honour to visit "my personal master of sushi ceremonies" (= the best sushi chef I know) in his little restaurant again.

Unfortunately I do not know (= can't read) his name nor the name of his restaurant in Ota-ku, Tokyo-City, not far away from Omori station.

With the support of Sapphire I now know the restaurant's name: SUKEROKU.

Here's the building (called twin building) where the sushi restaurant is situated in the fifth floor.

So end of August 2012 I had the pleasure to taste his great pieces of nigirizushi (which is what the world today knows as "sushi") again.

Certainly my Japanese blog fellows are able to read the menu board. For me it was just an enigma, but fortunately my Japanese colleagues ordered for me.

Did you spot the picture postcard from Rothenburg bottom left!? ;-)

I suppose the name of the sushi restaurant is written on the paper cover of the chopsticks. Can anybody translate it for me??? The shrimps obviously are the distinctive feature of the restaurant!?

Isn't this starter a gastronomical piece of poetry??? 

 

As far as I can remember the pieces of nigirizushi coming next are according the right order of courses.

Unfortunately I'm no expert for Japanese food culture at all. 

So please accept my apologies not knowing the correct names of the pieces of sushi.

But maybe I get support from an expert??? ;-)

Looks like salmon? --> sake (鮭) ???

--> maguro (鮪): tuna !!!

What I was able to see is that the order of courses changes between a red piece of fish or shells and whitefish.

No idea what type of fishes I got next...

The alignment of the grains of rice is the same like the structure of the fish or shell.

Coincidence or masterpiece!?

The little green dot is Wasabi, isn't it? ;-)

This little masterpiece the sushi chef made especially for me. It was made from a kind of miniature leek, but I'm not absolutely sure about this.

As a present for my host I had some postcards from Rothenburg painted by the Japanese artist Eichii Takeyama.
