Autumn air and atmosphere

Would you like to have breakfast with me???

And afterwards take some photos together???

;-)

"Unter den Linden", the "inn in the meadows" at Rothenburg, Germany,
is our favourite place on a Sunday morning for this plan.

The breakfast buffet is gorgeous, but - psst - don't tell it anybody else, otherwise it'll be too overcrowded the next time you and I go there.

And: it's a great place to contemplate and to take some moody photographs, especially in autumn time.

The open-air pub of "Unter den Linden" is directly located at the bank of the river Tauber; which is quite a flat little creek 10 kilometers after it's origin.

"Foliage boots" on the river...

Angelika, the tenant, and her team know how to decorate modestly but in a good style at once
and so you find seasonal bouquets everywhere in and outside the small inn.

So, when do we meet there in Rothenburg???

End of season sunflowers

Hi folks!
Did you have a nice and pleasant weekend?

After a challenging workweek, an ordinary Saturday and a pleasant encounter with some British friends at Rothenburg on Sunday morning; my sweetheart and I enjoyed a quiet and enjoyable Sunday afternoon.

Quite accidentally we stopped by a field where you can pick various flowers.

All the bigger sunflowers were already harvested,
but close to the ground or hidden behind some other field crops
I was able to find some scattered species.

One of the small sunflowers I took with me and placed it on the front window of my car to get the car keys out of my trousers pocket...

..and last but not least we arranged one of the sunflower heads on a plate filled with water.

The late summer season is definitely one of the most beautiful and productive seasons for ambitious photographers of florets... :-)

The very last "fresh" plums 2013...

Right in front of my bedroom balcony...
...there's an old plum tree that is tightly in the stranglehold of a mighty ivy.

In the background of my first photo you can surmise the evergreen tree killer.

Not many branches of my bedroom neighbour bear fruits anymore in summertime.
But this year many of them persevere until mid-November and were not eaten by birds or wasps.
Now they fall victim to mildew.

On a rainy morning I took the last fruits of 2013 before they'll fall off during the next autumn storm.

In springtime the old plum tree looked much more fresh-faced... ;-)

And nowadays the old plum even wears a beard - a fruticose lichen.

Happy November!

First onset of winter

What the hell was that this morning...???

;-)

When I raised the shutter of our bedroom window and looked outside this morning, I thought I still dream.
It was sleeting and on the hills on the other side of the valley the roofs and the more highly situated terrain was covered with a thin layer of wet snow.

Summertime - where have you gone???

Blue sky all Saturday long? --> No chance!

Even our last balcony tomatoes looked sad this morning... ;-)

But our Saturday morning breakfast made our day!
Toasty weekend for all of you!

November deer and roses

This year's autumn in Germany is really unusually: yet no storms, no strong winds at all, no rain showers, no temperatures below 0°C - just calm and misty weather, sometimes with periods of great and warm sunshine. So many of the deciduous trees still have their withered leaves on their branches.

And most of the roses are not frozebitten.

So I was able to take some autumnal photos during my weekend stroll without having the disadvantages of normal German autumn weather...

The deer (fallow deer as far as I know) I found inside an enclosure of a small manison / country house.
They are really greedy, so it was no problem at all to entice many of them with some bread.

autumnal coronas

"Pleasures lie thickest where no pleasures seem:
There's not a leaf that falls upon the ground

But holds some joy of silence or of sound,
Some spirits begotten of a summer dream."

Late autumn colours

While 80% of Germany has been under the influence of a low pressure system with heavy rain and strong winds during the recent week, the very south of my country was blessed with great, warm late autumn weather with magnificent sunshine.

So just guess in which part of the country I've been... ;-))

So follow me on my walk along the shingle beaches of (lake) Chiemsee in the southeast of Bavaria...

Chiemsee view from the north shore to the south with the Bavarian Alps in the hazy background.
