Yùyuán revived memories

Yu Garden ( 豫園 / Yùyuán ), located at No. 132. Anren Street in the center of the Old City next to the Chenghuangmiao area in Shanghai, China, is considered one of the most lavish and finest Chinese gardens in the region of Shanghai.

I was favoured by fortune to visit this gem of Chinese garden architecture during my trip to China in September this year.

The Kois - ornamental domesticated varieties of the common carp - were really beautifully coloured and trustingly - and they were really eager to be fed.

Fortunately it was a Monday I was able to visit Yu garden. On a Saturday or a Sunday I wouldn't have been able to take some photos of the beautiful ancient houses without any tourists in front of them.

But it still took approx. 10 minutes to capture this scene without any guys in front of it.

So it's much easier to target at the roofs with your lens...

...or you try to take an image of an hidden Chinese beauty... ;-.))

Yu Yuan Basar & Huxinting Teahouse

As far as I know this area of Shanghai's old town is known as Yu Yuan Basar, one of the most important and most frequented touristic highlights of the megacity.

In 1855, during the reign of Emperor Xianfeng of the Qing Dynasty, the pavilion was made into a teahouse, which was first called "Yeshi", and then "Wanzai" and finally "Mid-lake Pavilion (= Huxinting)
Teahouse." It is the oldest teahouse in Shanghai still in operation. It can only be reached by a zig-zag bridge evil ghosts can't use, because they only can move straightly (as we all know).

The tea served is made from pure mineral water, and from delicate tea leaves produced in different famous tea-growing areas to suit the varied habits and predilections of the tea drinkers.

The gold fish & koi pond around Huxinting Teahouse with little spots of lotus plants.

The illumination during the evening hours is really gorgeously - and there are a lot less people in front of your camara lens compared to daylight hours.

One of the main shopping streets inside Yu Yuan Basar - as always overcrowded with people from all over the world.

Shanghai nightly stroll

Certainly an alternative program to my usual night walks at home in Bäd Mergentheim - Shanghai by night.
And certainly one of the most famous nightly pamoramas worldwide.

Oriental Pearl tower (468m), Shanghai World Financial Center (492m) & Jin-Mao Tower (420,5m)
Three of the tallest buildings in the world in immidiate vicinity to each other at Pudong, Shanghai's
district east of Huangpu River.

Really amazing to stand between all these skyscrapers - and have a look at them, they really scrape the sky - or at least the clouds...

Did you know Shanghai has more than 600 skyscapers???

Not the worst place to take your dinner in Shanghai... ;-)
