Schanzenviertel street art & murals

Schanzenviertel???

--> We are in Hamburg!

The "Schanzenviertel" or short: "Schanze" [engl.: entrenchment] is a Hamburg district traditionally embracing a multicultural, alternative lifestyle.

Welcome...

The heart of Schanzenviertel are the streets and places called
Schulterblatt, Schanzenstraße, Susannenstraße, Bartelsstraße, Sternschanze station and Sternschanzen park

These are the locations I found the majority of the streetart objects and murals.

Hamburg street roes...

Rote Flora

The Rote Flora is a former theatre in the Sternschanze neighbourhood in Hamburg. It has been squatted since November 1989 in response to a decision to turn it into a musical theatre.

I hope you've enjoyed my stroll through Schanzenviertel neighborhood!

Stay tuned!

  13. You showed how to enjoy Schanzenviertel. Strolling around to see the street art and having a foamy cup of coffee for a rest is a good idea. Your collection of street murals is interesting; I like the third image, the octopus-like with eye, and the women each of who has her distinctive feature. Various different techniques are used in painting, which made me reminded of the art exhibition by the kindergartner I posted. Very young children learn many ways to produce art.

Regarding your comment, thanks for pointing out about too much influence from Disney animation. Actually the Art Exhibition featured Disney animation films this year. 4-year-old F enjoys the stories around the world like Alice in Wonderland, Frozen, Thomas the Tank Engine, Town Musicians of Bremen (from your country), etc. while she enjoys Japanese book for children both old and modern. Her favorite Japanese fairy story is Peach Boy and her favorite film is Hayao Miyazaki's My Neighbor Totoro.

Have happy autumn days ahead, Uwe.

  16. Hallo Uwe!
Thanks for taking me on an art tour around Hamburg!
Im not much of a fan of street art, in my opinion it makes the cities look a bit dirty, or better said, visually polluted.
But some illustrations are really eye catching!
    Cheers my friend!
