--> Çay! What else in Istanbul???
What do you think is the favourite drink in Turkey?
Coffee? Beer? Wine? Tea???
As far as I know it's tea - Çay!
Along the Black Sea coast, especially in the area of Rize, you find large tea plantations, where most of the tea drunk in Turkey comes from.
So everywhere we took a time out during our trip through Istanbul, we drunk our turkish tea - Çay!
Of course there are alternatives to the tea...
Cola turka!!!
;-)

AntwortenLöschenMy summer favorite is Nestea iced tea with peach. Right now I was watching the japan vs paraguay match while holding my nestea glass:) Surprised very much when my eyes saw this neat article. Yes, we are a tea-cholic nation:)
(I'm a bit different one)
You might be int'ed in what's it the most consumed iced tea rite here:

It's a real joy to read your memories with gorgeous photos from your trip to Turkey, dear Uwe. I hope there are many turkish readers to come to see what you report.
Thanx for your kind comment, Nihal.
AntwortenLöschenAs far as I know, you are my only Turkish follower. But certainly there will be a second one - from Luxembourg! ;-)
Enjoy the rest of the (pitiful) football match. When do you ever have the chance to see Paraguay versus Japan in life???
Today I asked my favourite Turkish fruit and vegetable seller of my hometown how to spell "Görüşürüz!" in the right way - now I know!
Görüşürüz!
Uwe.
...I meant "pronounce", not "spell" of course...
AntwortenLöschenI loved the free tea after the end of each dinner! I also picked up some tea glasses like these for around 5 TL. Sounds like I will need to drink more tea to calm down my nerves after this accident this morning. ;)
AntwortenLöschenHi You-Wee,
AntwortenLöschencay-tea is not bad, but in Turkey there is also a famous hops-tea: Efes.
