Echinacea colour festival

What are the flowers or blossoms you like to take photos of best???

I've to admit that my personal liking chanced within the years.

Last Saturday, when visiting a garden festival, I had the opportunity to photograph these wonderful Echinacea flowers, commonly known as coneflowers.

The longer I took photos of them, the more I perceived their beauty and character as a perfect photo model.

Most people know Echinacea purpurea, so the purple variant of the coneflower.
But my favourites are the golden ones, I think they fit perfectly to our summer mood and light.

But then I found the red species and I was not sure if I like it more than the golden one... ;-)

The white one doesn't look bad either...

Finally I saw and captured the "original" Echinacea purpurea and I was totally confused about my favourite colour variant.

So I made a potpourri out of all the differnt colours of the coneflower and now you can make your own choice...

What's your favourite, Naomi-san???
;-)

  1. All colors would suit my garden perfectly, Uwe!
But I have a crush on lilac, so the purpurea would be my choice!
I love how you mixed the layers and colors on the first picture. The splash of blue looks awesome on the golden coneflower!
    Cheers my friend!

  2. They're all gorgeous! I've mostly seen the "original" here. It would be nice to see more of the others too.

  4. Nature was the artist, Maricia, I was just the photographer... ;-)

Thanks, Gunilla, you should visit a garden market in your vicinity to discover more variants of Echinacea. Or you order them via amazon, but then you never know what you get...

  14. From my experiences, the longer you look into the flowers through your lens as well as with your eyes directly, you come to get closer to the essence of the flower and find another charms. These flowers shine through your heart’s eyes, Uwe. Each and every is charming on its own, but if asked to choose one, I’ll go for the white ones. Have a nice business trip to Italy and then a vacation.

  18. I did not connect that echinacea and cone flowers were the same until now. I really like cone flowers, but also those blue tall flowers in the first image are lovely.

  20. Hi Uwe

    An outstanding set of photographs.

I love how you isolate the flowers from all context - time, place weather.

    Happy Summer
