Sea of blossoms - magnolia heyday

The blossoming of the magnolia trees.
My object of desire during my lunch break the recent week.

Within the last years I've found some of the most impressing magnolia trees at the town where I work.
Standing directly in front of one of these wonderful trees during the blooming time you solely see a sea of blossoms. It's really difficult to focus one single flush.

Seen from a differnet angle of vision you get a much better view on the location where the magnolia trees grow. Definitely it's a privileged habitat for the thermophilic and frost-sensitive magnolias in the matter of sunshine and temperature - directly on top of a vineyard close to the town centre.

With an open aperture and a little help of Photoshop I was able to separate a flowering branch with my telephoto lens. Unfortunately I did not had my macro with me...
...maybe next week! ;-)

  2. I cannot remember that magnolia blossoms shed a fragrance like almond blossoms or any other odorous flowers, they just impress by beauty.

But the next time I'll be close to one of these floral gems I'll put my nose deep into the calyx/blossom... ;-)

Happy Easter to you and your family,

    Uwe.

  3. Oh, Magnolia is my absolute favourite!!

About your comment at my post today...
I think you are right when it comes to the architect's relationship to the Urban Planning Committee of the local government.. Although, the town has quite a bad reputation, which needs to be worked on to show people that its not the bad town so many people say, and allowing experiments like this house, I think is only good in many ways.

A great week to you too!
