Festive procession of Roettingen's County Festival on Sunday, 31.08.2014
Roettingen / Röttingen is a small town in the district of Wuerzburg, northern Bavaria.
It's situated in the lovely valley of the river Tauber (Taubertal), approx 15 km east of my hometown Bad Mergentheim.
Röttingen is a wine growing community and they grow approx. 30 ha of Franconian wine on the vineyards called "Röttinger Feuerstein".
A local speciality is the "Tauberschwarz", a local sort of grapes that only exists in the area of the Tauber Valley.
Since more than 90 years Röttingen has been celebrating its local county festival called "Röttingen Gauvolkfest" on the last weekend of August.
The height of each festival is the festive procession / parade on Sunday afternoon,
Large parts of the local population are involved in this traditional event.
This year's topic was: "Freizeitspaß im Taubertal" / "Recreational fun in the Tauber Valley".
So we were able to see a parade with 26 different groups and floats that thematised recreational fun / leisure time activities you can enjoy in the valley of the Tauber.
How about going in for sports? ;-)
Swimming can be great fun (if the weather is much better)!
You can try out Bobby Car racing - if you are brave enough...
...and meet the motivated service team!
For elderly people (like me) I can recommend...
...driving veteran, vintage or classic cars.
This one was built in 1908!!!
My personal highlights during the parade were the many old farm tractors decorated with locel late summer flowers!
Do you like "German Volksmusik"?
Here you got it!
That was really a wonderful festive procession!
See you next year - end of August 2015 - in Röttingen on the Gauvolksfest!
Looks like fun! :) But no sauna..just sports and swimming..

AntwortenLöschenI really like the building in the background too :)
Loads of fun...recreational fun- even better.
AntwortenLöschenThank you for sharing your photos at the new home for Wordless Wednesday (on Tuesday) at http://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/. I hope to see you each week!
AntwortenLöschenGreat parade. Everyone put in a lot of effort to dress up their tractors and vehicles. I love the tractor and sunflowers. :)
AntwortenLöschenBeautiful people
AntwortenLöschenGreat festival parade, brilliant photos Uwe.
AntwortenLöschenLooks like a great parade with plenty of happiness!
AntwortenLöschenLooks fun.
AntwortenLöschenSplendid photos of a colourful event. I especially liked the flower-bedecked tractors. In the past in England the horse bringing in the last wagon at the end of harvest used to be decorated in similar fashion - I've never seen a flowery tractor before though.
AntwortenLöschenLooks like a wonderful festival. What fun it was to join it! Like John I liked the flower-decorated tractors very much. They reminded me of our flower-decorated festival cars that were used in my hometown when I was a kid. Have a nice autumn, YWB!!
AntwortenLöschenSehr shoöene fotos, festival,

You reminded me of that excitement when parade is coming to town or proceeding in town. Like Sapphire, the flower-decorated tractor remind me of the procession of flower-decorated streetcars during the festival of my hometown Kobe. At the yesterday’s Full Moon Festival in my city, a wagon decorated with seven flowers of autumn was pulled around the city streets to the pond where the highlight of the festival is done. Looks like German late August is not so hot seeing from many people wearing long sleeves, but the man with a swimming pants only looks brave. My late August was unusually cool but not such an extent to feel like wearing long-sleeves. Thanks for this enjoyable report of the parade on such charming streets, Uwe. Have a nice September.
