Ophrys fuciflora - Hummel-Ragwurz - Late Spider orchid

Ophrys fuciflora, also known as Ophris holoserica

The Late spider orchid, or Hummel-Ragwurz in German.

The "beauty queen" among our ative orchids - in my humble opinion.

I took the photos last Sunday in a nature reserve not far away from my hometown after the heavy rainfalls were over. The wet and humid weather was obviously a wonderful piece of luck for our native orchids. Last year's springtime was much dryer and nearly non of these species were flourished.

The colours of the petals vary from white to purple.
All our native orchids are strictly protected and even orchid fans and photographers like me are a real danger for the continued existence of these species. It's really difficult to spot them and there's always a good chance to trample one flower while you take a photo of another.
So please take care and use your eyes, dear orchid hunters!
