Whitsunday's floral gems

Yesterday evening I charged the battery of my old Olympus SLR,
because I have a fantastic close-up lens for this camera system with an aperture of 2.0

The idea behind the recharging of the battery was to use the (promised) great sunshine on Whitsunday morning to take some close-ups of flowers on my way to my Sunday breakfast location. Because for the afternoon the weather prophets promised us end-of-the-world weather (we have currently).

Anemone sylvestris (snowdrop anemone) was my first object of desire I found on a piece of dry grassland next to a parking area near a highway.

Next to the anemones I found my first military orchids [Orchis militaris],
a species of orchid native to Europe.

To get the best shooing position I had to go flat, in close contact to some thorns and a lot of creepy-crawlies like ants, bugs and ticks... ;-)

I really like the involvement between nature, light and camera technology,
the game with aperture and focus depth.

Scharfer Hahnenfuss [Ranunculus acris], known as meadow buttercup, tall buttercup or giant buttercup.

Finally: a close-up of a part of my breakfast:
sausage salad with peppercorns.

So I copied it and posted it this way. No harm meant!

  17. Dear Perth friend,

thanks a lot for your message. I used my "old" Olympus E-3 together with the superb Macro Olympus Zuiko Digital 50mm 2.0 for th shooting of my floral gems.
I really have to find out if my Olympus lenses - all of them of a great optical quality - fit to the new OM-D as well. I like the retro-style design of this camera, but have no clue about its inner values.

  31. Hello, Uwe! I’m visiting slowly one by one. Your macro lens with aperture 2.0 is so powerful. The flowers are heavenly luminous. These are the effect of the collaborated works of the lens and photographer’s sensibility and skills.

    Yoko

    AntwortenLöschen
  32. I think it was mainly the morning sun presenting the flowers on the photos in the right light. If I took the same photos in the high noon sun, they would have looked/appeared quite different. So: morning or evening sun is the magic word for photos to generate a good atmosphere... ;-)

    Have a great day, Yoko!

    Uwe.
