At the beginning of this week I was favoured by fortune to travel to Vorarlberg, Austria, occupationally.
My Austrian colleagues took me to the panorama restaurant Karren above Dornbirn after work.
The low sunlight was really great this evening. And in combination with the phantastic panorma and the tender green colour of the sprouting nature I had the feeling to have a view on Tolkien's Middle-earth.
But it is "merely and simply" the Upper Rhine Valley around Dornbirn, south-east of Lake Constance and not Gondor or Rohan... ;-)
The Dornbirn cable car takes you within a few minutes to the top station in 976 meters above sea level .
From the panorama restaurant you can enjoy both great Austrian cuisine and the view on the Upper Rhine Valley (approx. 440 meters above sea level).
After sunset you may have an outlook on the lights of Dornbirn, Bregenz and the bordering Switzerland.
Wow, this is really the Upper Rhine? Breathtaking!
AntwortenLöschen...what about a weekend trip from Lux to Dornbirn, Vorarlberg? Only a 586 km ride via the crowded motorways of Southern Germany... ;-))
AntwortenLöschenEnjoy your weekend, whatever you plan to do...
Uwe.
I love those fine broad views!
