Lauenburg / Elbe is the southernmost town of the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. It is situated at the northern bank of the river Elbe, approximately 40km southeast of Hamburg
(= right out in the sticks).
Last Wednesday, I felt like being the only guy going for a stroll through the streets of the old town along the Elbe. Most of the hotels and restaurants had their closing day on Wednesday. A chill autumn wind blew and it was a rather inhospitable evening - so there was pretty enough room to take some time exposure photos without any annoying persons on the streets and in front of my lens... ;-)
To put it another way:
Lauenburg (on a Wednesday evening) is half the size of the central cemetry of Hamburg, but twice as dead!
...only two anglers were persued in their trade, standing next to the bronze statue "The Caller / Der Rufer".
Lauenburg has a notable old town with a number of historic buildings from the 17th century and earlier. In the past these houses were mostly the homes of sailors. Today, the area appeals to artists as well as tourists.
