Essential for survival in the hot Tokyo summer asphalt jungle

This seems to be really big business in Japan: You can find beverage vending machines nearly everywhere in Tokyo and in its periphery.

Tokyo lies in the humid subtropical climate zone with hot humid summers and generally mild winters with cool spells.

Tokyo is an example of an urban heat island (a metropolitan area which is significantly warmer than its surrounding rural areas); the city's population is a significant contributor to its climate. Tokyo has been cited as a "convincing example of the relationship between urban growth and climate.

The average temperature in August is normally between 24 and 31°C.

So it was obviously my individual thermal perspiration (dt.: Schweißsekretion) that pushed the thermometer up to 33°C average day temperature during my sojourn... ;-)
