You-wee in Taka-Tuka-Land

I mixed up a little German and English expressions from the tales of
Pippi Longstocking / Pippi Langstrumpf / Pippi Långstrump.

In German there is the title (among others):

Pippi in Taka-Tuka-Land

created by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren 1948.

English: Pippi in the South Seas
(original title: Pippi Långstrump i Söderhavet)

and so it seems to me that I travelled to Taka-Tuka-Land when we did a boat trip to Vaxholm, the "capital" of the Stockholm archipelago.

All the time I looked out for Pippi Longstocking if she would appear somewhere on one of the thousand islands of the archipelago.

aspects of Stockholm - part II

This was my squad of body guards who accompanied me on my photo excursion through Stockholm. Unfortunately they weren't always that patient with me as it looks like on this photo.
Honestly I must say it's not always easy for somebody else to go along with me while I want to take photos of every new detail coming in my field of vision.

Here my squad was already 200 metres ahead of me while I snapped the fifth version of that scene.

Undesired approach.

Stockholm is surrounded by water and a plenty of happy aquatics live in there.

Stomatol is a brand of toothpaste first sold in Sweden at the beginning of the 20th century. It was particularly notable as having been one of the first Swedish brands to recognize and to use the power of mass media.

It is particularly known for the large advertisement sign which has been a prominent local landmark at Slussen in Stockholm since 1909. The Stomatol sign, made from lightbulbs, not neon tubes, was the first animated advertisement sign in Sweden (one can see the toothpaste being squeezed out of the tube). It was originally placed on the Katarinahissen elevator, but was moved in 1933 to the roof of the nearby building at Klevgränd 1 B. Technical problems have forced the electricity to be shut down between 1963 and 1972 and from 1981 until 1986.

aspects of Stockholm - part I

This was the only Swedish resident we met at Stockholm's old town centre Friday evening (midsummer!!!). All the other inhabitants of Stockholm left their hometown to spend the midsummer weekend somewhere at the waterside (--> Stockholm archipelago) or in the countyside.
Our taxidriver from the Arlanda airport to Gamla stan (Stockholm's old town) was an Italian lady called Simona (--> Friday was her first day as a taxi driver and we were her first customers! She did a great job! If you want to drive with her in future in Stockholm's periphery - I still have the number of her mobile phone... ;-)). Most of the restaurants were closed, exept of the coffehouses run by immigrants. So the first Swedish meal (svenske kjøttbullar - Swedish meatballs) we had at an Indian cafe!

Gamla stan (Stockholm's historic district) short after sunset at 22:07 Central European Summer Time.

Stockholm's watertaxis at the end of the work day.

svenske kjøttbullar - Swedish meatballs (?) --> Indian meatballs (!) we had at an Indian cafe.

In tribute to Kjellbrell... ;-))

God save...

...Sveriges Kungahuset!

Konung Carl XVI Gustaf och Drottning Silvia.

You can find their portrait almost everywhere. I took this picture last Sunday on a boat from Stockholm to Vaxholm, the "capital" of the Stockholm archipelago.
